"demonrage" from the newly launched Achtung, Wolfenstein! site sends word that the Return To Castle Wolfenstein title may be banned in Germany. In Grey Matter's upcoming production 'Return To Castle Wolfenstein' (due out late Q1 2001), the German government is expected to ban the game due to the "strong Nazi content" that will be found within. They're even planning on considering it a criminal offence to even have this game in your possession! Check out the full story here.

Only the cream of the crop of games get an "Extreme Game Award" from us folks here at Sharky Games. This year, things have been good for us gamers an impressive 10 titles picked up that coveted award. Just for fun, here's a look at all of them...

In May 1999, Julie Strain promised "I'm going to KICK Lara Croft's ASS!" And sure enough she did. While Lara Croft continued to battle the same old jumping puzzles and switch-finding conundrums, Ritual released FAKK 2 with the main character, Julie, based on Julie Strain herself. The levels were truly gorgeous, the mix of combat and shooting just right and overall it was just seriously good fun. What else matters?

Zone.com has once again bewitched game players with the unveiling of two new single-player games, "Bejeweled" and "Alchemy," earlier this week. Both games appeal to puzzle lovers of all ages, but be forewarned, these games are entertaining, hard to quit and extremely absorbing. Since its debut, "Bejeweled" has become one of the most popular games on the Zone. The object of "Bejeweled" is to make the gems vanish, clearing the board and advancing to the next level. Aligned, matching groups of three jewels magically disappear, adding time to the diminishing clock and points to a player's increasing score. Magic? Not likely, however this race against time and agility will appeal to the bandit in everyone. Is it magic or chemistry that allows players to turn lead into gold in "Alchemy"? This new strategy game challenges players to find the right combination to form solid gold; but one wrong move and even Houdini, rabbits and top hats won't help.
