Crave Entertainment today announced details regarding "Ultimate Fighting Championship: Tapout" for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft. The title, set to be released in the first wave of games for the system in Fall 2001, perfectly portrays the real-life mixed-martial arts pay-per-view spectacular, complete with stylized fighter entrances and signature submission moves.

Bombs away! RC Daredevil adds a fun twist to the fun of flying a remote control plane by giving you different missions to complete, and different - and progressively tougher - opponents to challenge you. Select from one of five different aircraft and engage in crazy missions including Balloon Splat, Dogfight, and more. Lacking the excruciating detail and the difficulty of a true flight sim, RC Daredevil is a great way to take to the air. Non-violent gameplay is great for all ages! [Download: DemoNews]

Nordic games development company, Digital Illusions, acquired the operations of the North American games developer Sandbox Studios. Through this acquisition, Digital Illusions will establish its own development, production and sales in North America. The size of the new group will make it one of the largest in Europe and North America. It is estimated that the amalgamated company will have approximately 150 employees with a revenue exceeding SEK 100 million ($10 m). It is estimated that the new group will continue to achieve good profitability already during 2001.

Mykro Planets is a pure 1-st person multiplayer action shooter, but in space. It's not a space simulator, it's a free-movement game (like in classic shooters) without acceleration or inertia, with strafes in XZ plane (and strafe along Y axis). I know that it can be strange for space-sim fans, but in that case the game is much more dynamic and available for the wide public. [Download: DemoNews]

Sierra and Dynamix's Starsiege Tribes holds the distinction of being the first 3D shooter to make the move to online-only. Adding wide-open spaces, limited pilotable vehicles, 32 simultaneous players even over a slow connection, jump jets that added up and down to your requisite 360 degrees of shooting mayhem, and a plethora of new game types. Check out the Sharky review of Tribes 2 here.
