Nordic games development company, Digital Illusions, acquired the operations of the North American games developer Sandbox Studios. Through this acquisition, Digital Illusions will establish its own development, production and sales in North America. The size of the new group will make it one of the largest in Europe and North America. It is estimated that the amalgamated company will have approximately 150 employees with a revenue exceeding SEK 100 million ($10 m). It is estimated that the new group will continue to achieve good profitability already during 2001.

The End of SharkyGames? Perhaps not indefinitely: SharkyExtreme will be carrying some limited gaming content as things progress. However, there will no longer be new content on SharkyGames after April 2001.

Mykro Planets is a pure 1-st person multiplayer action shooter, but in space. It's not a space simulator, it's a free-movement game (like in classic shooters) without acceleration or inertia, with strafes in XZ plane (and strafe along Y axis). I know that it can be strange for space-sim fans, but in that case the game is much more dynamic and available for the wide public. [Download: DemoNews]
